talk about fashion you can feel about, i've just became hip to
same sky, a company that empowers women by helping them to make a living through entrepreneurship. based in rwanda, same sky partners with gahaya links, a company that employs hiv+ women who are all survivors of the 1994 rwandan genocide. rather than a hand out, these women are taught a jewelry-making skill that allows them to rebuild their lives and care for themselves and their families.
they have two lines of bracelets - the glass bead bracelets
($160) are crocheted with handblown glass beads and the fabric wrap bracelets
($40) are braided with fabrics and adorned with beads. they are available at several stores throughout new york, houston, vegas and jamaica. they're also available directly through their
online shop.
