yawl know this knocks. i wish people would kill the noise about willow smith (daughter of will and jada smith) being exploited. i watched her last night on one of the news shows and she's such a cute kid. she's not trying to be too grown or anything. she spoke about her dad covering the youtube comments so she couldn't read them. my perception is that the smiths are stellar parents who are blessed enough to let their kids express their unique and fabulous talents to the world. under supervision. you wouldn't do the same?

i love the ciphers.
i look forward to the bet hip hop awards for the ciphers alone. while i read a significant amount of disdain from my facebook friends about the awards and bet in general, i kinda enjoyed the show. for one, with all due respect, my expectations weren't tremendously high. i mean, it is what it is.
and the father son cipher with ice cube and sons + run and sons:
see the other ciphers here.
and no i won't mention the wacka flacka and antoine dodson foolishness. oh, i just did.
but how can you not like the old school tributes? salt n pepa! i wanted to be those chicks when i was a young girl. although i would have liked to see bet bring the new school ladies of hip hop out on stage to sing some of s n p's old hits, i still appreciated the tribute. i learned that their asymetrical hair do's happened by accident thanks to a bad dye job from pepa's cousin. i also remembered just how many trends they set with their fashion - ripped jeans, bodysuits, etc.
of course, i liked the surprise visit from digital underground and the tribute to pac. b-o-b was good. host, michael epps was hilarious especially when he came out in the shiny suit and was imitating diddy. the dude from roc nation - what's his name? - was good, too.
but my absolute favorite are the ciphers. it made me text my brother and thank him because i really owe my love for hip hop to him. big ups to bet for the father son cipher. loved it. but the absolute best of the night was the g.o.o.d music cipher with kanye. kanye is tough. if you ain't convinced by now ...

holding you down (going in circles).
this new song off jazmine sullivan's sophmore album knocks! it's the first single and the video is too cute. of course i love the old school, house party theme with cameos from pepa, doug e. fresh, kwame, missy and pete rock. we'll let them slide on the overt product placement of the nuvo.
her album drops on october 5 - i'll be at best buy to cop it.

dirty money.
can i tell you how hot i think dirty money is? and that kinda says a lot. i don't just go around co-signing all these new and/or recycled groups. kalenna, dawn (formerly of dannity kane) and diddy make up the group and i'm digging the group's twist (especially that kalenna ... girlfriend's swag is on 1000.)
i don't quite get why people are so indifferent of the group. is it the diddy factor? there's so much chocolate talent spewing from them ... i find them quite refreshing. hmm ... maybe they just don't fit that formula ... you know what formula i'm talking about.anywho, i found their site today. go on and check it out.

drake made me eat my words.

so ok, there. i admit it. i hope he doesn't get all corny though and start acting out of his character. there's a bit of dorkiness about him that is kinda ... cute. his music is grown and his flow is tight. i think he'll be around for a little bit. thoughts?

super high.
"i wanna buy my chick every bag and she ain't ever, ever, ever gotta take 'em back."
this is me and hubby's ish! this song puts you in a straight zone ... like just close your eyes, sip on your grown up drink ...
i love how rick is on his grown man. song's not full of cuss words and his videos aren't full of a bunch of boobs and butts. his videos look like someone actually put a little thought in it, not the usual rap video template. loves it. my summer jam. 2010.
"andele ... andele ... baby move fast ..."
rick ross and neyo

why don't you love me?
as much as i wish beyonce would just go away long enough for me to miss her, i must admit that her new video for her latest single, "why don't you love me?", is pure dopeness. love the entire vibe, the 50s concept, the playful nature and of course the fashion. nowadays, i appreciate when artists dare to go in a different direction. the same ole template for music videos is unexciting. but this is refreshing.

i don't usually do too much of ci ci but chick gets it in on her new video with luda, ride ...

angels (remix).
dirty money's song angels is hot. the remix with rick ross is ridiculously hot. i've always loved that beat since i first heard jay use it in cough up a lung. so far i'm loving diddy's dirty money group. i hope he keeps it hot. and rick ross. wow. i think i've finally forgiven him for lying about being a CO.

the kid named drake.
someone please help me understand. i admit, in advance, that i may have my facts confused.

drake has no cd. no label. 1 single but yet is creating buzz as if he's a larger than the beatles. why?

are folks being a bit premature in crowning him?
lastly, i thought dude was a singer. but he's a rapper? the only part of the "best" song that i like is the chorus ... i can't stand the rap part. apparently, i'm the only one ...
i just don't appreciate anyone telling me who i think is hot. i make that decision. thanks. the song is hot. but i'm trying to figure out why i should already say that drake, the artist, is so hot ... i mean he could be, probably is or will be, but uh.
he is a cutie. i guess.
