heidi klums hands in her angel wings.

after a 13 year collaboration, heidi klum will leave victoria's secret. She told the page six, "all good things have to come to an end. i will always love victoria's secret. it has been an absolutely amazing time."

always good to walk out on your own instead of being booted. she had a great run.

my only question: can dc get some love?!

ellen degeneres struts richie rich's catwalk.

work, ellen, work.
ellen closed the richie rich spring 2011 fashion show in nyc. she donned hi-top sneaks, a shiny suit and fingerless blue gloves. oh and don't forget the itty bitty hat for a comedic gesture. gotta love ellen.

wear white AFTER labor day.

i promise you, it's ok. forget the antiquated rules; plus, the weatherman promises sunshine all week.

for a chill day, out and about, pair a simple white tank, like this one from old navy ($14.50):

with these wide legged pants by acne (outnet, $90):

then hit the clearance rack at steve madden and cop this neutral pink bucket tote for about (bwave $70) (use code: SCRATCH30 and they'll take another 30% off for you):
and then slide over to the clearance shoe section and choose from a bunch of marked down flats and wedgies. like these simple cuties (rivierra, $39.99):

don't forget your shades and a smile!

fancy pants.

i think these sequined ombre leggings from manish arora would be super fun to rock for the right occasion. like new year's eve night in the big city or something. do you agree? or are they doing way too much for your taste?
if you like them, the good news is that they're 50% off. the not-so-good news is that these things are still $467. farfetch.com

kimora lee simmons parts from baby phat.

"after 14 years of conceiving and nurturing baby phat, it's time for me to move on and further expand my other businesses and create a new phenomenon, i adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning. i'm forever dedicated to my family, fans and customers. my inspiration has always come from the fabulous women who have been with me through the years as we've grown from young party girls to power players! we're ready for our next journey together and we're taking a whole new generation of incredible young women with us. girl power unite!," says simmons.

of course simmons already has her hands in other ventures like the kls collection and her reality series, kimora: life in the fab lane, which she is currently shooting the 4rth season.

sounds like a great power move to make and i'd bet my next paycheck that there's so much more fabulosity to come from ms. kimora.

bad karma for american apparel?

american apparel stock shares are down, revenues have dropped about a disappointing 8 mill and their growth profit has dropped about 9% from last year. not very promising. could this be bad karma for their exclusive hiring processes?

ambercrombie, whose clothes seem to be the uniform of choice for every teen-to-be and teenager (at least in my old neighborhood back home in philly), are also planning to close 60 stores throughout the country. i guess parents aren't too thrilled about throwing out 60 or 70 bucks for a flimsy shirt anymore.

make no mistake about it, times are still a little rough for most folks. unless you live in your mama's basement and pay minimal bills, it's still a little hard for most to justify spending ridiculous amounts of cash on clothes these days. still flyy, just finding less expensive options.

do you shop less, more or the same than you did 5 years ago?

zoe kravitz for alexander wang.

zoe kravitz will star alongside model, max motta in alexander wang's fall ready-to-wear ad campaign. ads will launch on thursday. i'm sure they will be nothing less than fabulous.

sasha fierce in new fall 2010 house of dereon ad.

sasha fierce came with a naughty girl steeze for her new fall 2010 house of dereon ad. short blonde do (which i'm feeling) and fake tatts. ok.

i still wouldn't bet the ranch that there's anything in this collection that i'd even think about wearing. #let'sbehonest.

betty white's new clothing collection.

like you couldn't have seen this one coming. it's betty white mania right now. so the company, jerry leigh, is cashing in on her popularity. it's a limited edition line that includes t-shirts and hoodiebuddies, hoodies with washable earbuds and an imput jack attached.

like her calendar, proceeds will go to the morris animal foundation. white will also be paid a fee from the company for using her likeness.

well hey. why not?

forever 21 launches a maternity line.

brilliant. as popular as forever 21 is it makes total sense to expand your markets. love 21 is the chain's new maternity line. it's available online but only physically launching in 5 states: alaska, arizona, cali, texas and utah. the huff post cites a source that says that arizona, cali and texas have the highest percentage of teen pregnancy. think they had that in mind when they were deciding where to launch l21? likely. although many grown folks, myself included, shop in f21 from time to time.

kahri's 2010 fall collection: a quick chat with the designer + a peek at the collection.

if you've been down with sgb since day 1, then you remember that we are a big fan of kahrianne kerr. we first launched in october of 2005, halloween to be exact, and our e-shop was full of kahri items. our customers loved it and the very first item we sold to a non-family member was a bubble mini-dress by kerr. an image of another dress of kerr's ended up in a brief sgb write-up in dc style magazine. and so yes, we have plenty of love for her work.

from a farm in iowa to the big bubbling city of new york, kerr has made tremendous strides in the world of fashion. you can find her in over 20 boutiques across the US and internationally and over 30 e-shops.

i caught up with her this past weekend to get the scoop on her latest line, her fall 2010 cherrybomb collection. and of course, a sgb interview wouldn't be complete without a couple of random questions. check it:

what's the inspiration behind your cherrybomb fall 2010 collection?
the fall 2010 collection is inspired by the glam punk girl group, the runaways and their hit song cherrybomb.

your tagline is "be rebellious". tell us what that means to you and how that represents your collections/brand.
i think being rebellious can mean different things to different people. to me it just means having the courage to be yourself, wear what you want, and do whatever makes you happy. my collection is for people who kick ass so i make sure the clothes match the personality.

what future plans can we expect from khari?
well, slowly but surely kahri will expand. for now, i've got a new line of leather handbags out for fall 2010 and i'm working on spring 2011 now.

a song/album that you can listen to over and over?
pretty much all of cat power's albums, i especially love the song the greatest. i'm a huge no doubt/gwen stefani fan and garbage rocks too. plus i love sia, fiona apple, pj harvey, the beatles, and lots more.

your favorite style icon?
gwen stefani

style is ...
personal

check out more of her collections, past and present, over at the kahri site.

the material girl's girl blogs.

so by now you've probably heard that madonna has a new clothing line, material girl. it debuts in august and can be found in macy's. you already know how we feel about celeb lines so um ... keep an eye out for it. i guess.

what's cooler than the line itself, in my humble opinion, is that madonna has her daughter, lourdes a.k.a. lola, involved. madonna told wwd that lola has "... been coming to meetings pretty much from the very beginning ... i really like the way lola dresses, and i think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste." that's cool. get them out there while they're still young!

lola has started a blog for the new line called material world where she adds her $0.02 to all things fashion. i took a look at her blog and so far i've learned that tie dye is making a comeback (yay!) and that gladiator sandals are out (ms. lola, we respectfully disagree). check it.

designer diapers by cynthia rowley.

when me and hubby first saw the commercial for designer diapers the other night, we glanced at eachother. our first look was kinda like "what the ..." and then we quickly shrugged in approval as if to say, why didn't we think of that?!

gosh i'm so sick of saying "why didn't i think of that?" while some may think the idea of fashionable diapers is absurd or unnecessary, i think it's absolutely brilliant. and yes, i'd buy my future little one some. come on. the white ones are so 2009.

so cynthia rowley has collaborated with pampers for its first line of designer diapers. it will feature 11 different styles and will be available at target later this month. the cost? not sure yet. but i think it's safe to say that these will be a little more than the normal diapers.

so what do you say? crazy fabulous or just plain crazy?

throwback: antm # 3 featuring eva.

so one of my occasional saturday rituals is to watch a throwback season of america's next top model. as long as it is a good season, i'll kick my feet up after running my errands and watch back-to-back episodes from first to last. last saturday i was hype to find my favorite season ever of antm - cycle 3. you had tocarra, the vivacious brickhouse stallion. you had yaya, the refined, nose-in-the-air beauty. you had tomboy and envious, anna.

and of course, you had the one and only eva. eva the diva. i remember watching the first episode back in september of '04. i immediately declared eva the winner. i rooted for her as if i was getting the $100,000 contract if she won. i mean how intense was it when it got down to only4 ladies left - eva, yaya, anna and amanda - and they all turned on her because they secretly saw her as a threat? and when it got down to the final two - eva and yaya -everyone was divided. team eva saw her as gorgeous and approachable. team yaya saw her as typical model beauty.

and of course eva took it home! and thinking about seeing her on the red carpet of the bet awards last sunday (and those shoes still have me salivating) i appreciate the fact that you still see her around. i think it is very disappointing to compete and win on a show like antm and then quickly fade into obscurity. what a rip off. somewhere, one of those girls, would have loved the opportunity to call herself the winner. eva took the win and ran with it. 6 years later she's still relevant. so is tocarra. she finished in 7th place and was still determined. yaya had a few acting roles, too. think about some of the other winners of the show. where the heck are they?

eva has come a long way. from eva pigford ...
to ms. eva marcille ...

and the winner is ...

i dig solange.

check out her interview with refinery29.com. then tell me if she's not someone you would want to know. i said before that her style is innate. and i've always appreciated a certain love me or leave me type steeze. comfortable in her own skin and easy and breezy, she epitomizes "it is what it is." and she always seems as though she's having a damn good time. agree?

"... i'm all about the shoes! i order a ton of them online and
play with my entire wardrobe until i find the right shoe. unfortunately,
so many people get it right from the head until the ankles. the shoe is very
important. i can't even fuck with you if your shoe game is slacking."
-solange, as told to refinery29

christian louboutins. ooo-la-la.

dominique auxilly: the designer.

dominique auxilly's designs pretty much speak for themselves. back in my social networking days, she was my myspace friend. so when i peeped the pictures of dawn from dirty money's photoshoot for ghubar magazine, i was impressed. not only does dawn look fabulous, auxilly tweeted that dawn is donning one of auxilly's very own designs. peep it:

kinda hot, right? google "dawn richards ghubar" for the rest of the photos.

and check out auxilly's site. she has a few cute looks on there, like a hot lil' golden yellow cocktail mini dress that is super-cute.
