in my house.

1985, rick james' protegees released in my house. the mary jane girls. check out the fashion - gotta love the 80s.

first lady does people.

do the right thing.

staying in this weekend? make it a movie wknd and watch do the right thing. can you believe it's been 20 years since it came out. i feel old.
school daze is still my favorite spike lee movie but i loved this one too. in ny, some famous faces came out to help spike celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie.
spike and rosie:
spike, rosie and chuck d:
malinda and d-nice ... love these two:

b does ebony.

fame remake.

faaaammmeee, i'm gonna live forevvvvver.

yeh, i sung that.

were you a fame fan? well they've reinvented it. set to release next september, fame will follow a group of talented dancers, singers, artists and actors at the nyc high school of performing arts as they all seek fame.

familiar cast includes naturi, formerly of 3lw and the notorious movie, charles dutton and debbie allen.

will it compare to the 1980 original?

the color purple comes to dc.

i got an email from my chica, fellow fashionista nikki necole, reminding me that the color purple musical has finally landed in dc!

i went to see it a few years ago in ny. on the way there, i found out it was a musical and was disappointed. i'm not really a musical-type person. but before scene 1 was over i was captured. it was excellent. i boo-hooed constantly; i'm such a cry baby.

it's at the kennedy center from june 30 to august 2. tickets range from 25 to 95 bucks. click
here for more info and definitely try to check it out.

blame it on the alcohol.

ok, so i ranted yesterday about how hot this video is. miss ope doesn't agree and insists it was a "great waste of talent in one room." i don't know, ope. it's making me want to jump on southwest headed for miami or something. tell me what yawl think.

madonna & jesus luz: w photoshoot.

vintage style: denise huxtable.

wish i could have found better images. but just turn on nick at nite and you'll agree. denise huxtable epitomized 80s fashion. eccentric and eclectic at its best. would love to get my hands on her show wardrobe.

louis vuitton millionaire sunglasses.

pre-spring nail color.

spring is almost here (yes!) and you're probably about to brighten up your nail color. but before you do, e.l.f. has some new shades for now. $1 a piece. can't beat it.

top left: chocolate; top right: royal purple
bottom left: dark navy; bottom right: mod mauve

vintage kimora.

guess who? yup. young kimora. before the fabulosity.

blame it on the a-a-alcohol.

yooooo. the video is hot. you hear me? hot! guest appearances by heavy hitters. grown folks. not a bunch of rappers flashing their borrowed jewelry. hot. oh my. i love, love, love it.

i'm off to you tube to see if i can find it to post.

calling all shawties: top model back with a statement.

cycle 12 is set to premiere on march 4 and this time tyra has called for contestants at or under 5'7". you know tyra is all about pushing the envelope on what is considered beautiful around these parts. and i'm sure the fact that kate moss is 5"7' and fierce makes a damn good argument for her new rule.
i didn't really watch last season. i kept missing it and never bothered to pull it up on youtube to watch what i had missed. i remember when i wouldn't answer my phone if it rang while it was on. and now i can take it or leave it. you watching?

i like.

do you?

trepidd by steve madden, $119.95

presidential address to congress.

did you ever notice how obama speaks from the top of his head? no teleprompter from what i can see.

(and michelle is dazzling in that purple.)

she got her own.

still love this song. love the video. why am i just seeing it for the first time today? neyo, jaime and loso with eve, keisha cole, estelle, the atl twins, teyana and jill marie jones.

oscillation mascara by lancome.

come on. you know you want to try it. $34. vibrating wand oscillates 7,000 times per minute. reviews are rave.

late night with the roots.

how cool is the roots as the new house band on late night with jimmy fallon. i fool with the roots. not just because they're from philly. they just manage to stay so cool and unaffected.

i remember back in the day i met black thought while working as a hostess at friday's. we took pictures with him and he was a quiet dude - calm, cool and collected.

if you don't have their first cd, do you want more, get it. hot from the first track to the last. matter fact, it's somewhere in my cd player now.

oscar's 09 bore me.

i've never been a fan of the oscar's. probably because i'm always at least a year late to see any movie. i'm interested, of course, in the fashion choices, of all the boys and girls. i did notice, in between me dozing off, that the program made a decent effort to bring a little excitement and flair to the show. not necessarily exciting to me but maybe to you. here we go:

alicia is beautiful but i could have done without the wig. whose idea was that?

tilda swinton

i hear beyonce rocked house of dereon. i really wish b would sit down somewhere and have a baby or something. i mean the broadway performance ... b, trust me, it's time to sit down for a minute.

i'd never even seen or heard of freido pinto of slumdog millionaire before last night. i'm so out the loop with the movie scene. she wore galliano. nice. and had a happy night because the movie swept. i may check it out.
ok, i probably would have liked this dress on someone older and maybe taller. i mean miley is 17, right? not the right dress for her, in my opinion, even if it is the oscar's.

oh whoopi.

unfamiliar with evan rachel wood but elegant look

halle looks fabulous, as usual.

sarah jessica parker mentioned that her dress was borrowed. how considerate, it is a recession!

queen latifah wore a chakra gown. she sung last night during the tribute to those who passed away in '08.

anne hathaway

viola wore a reem acra dress. i don't hate it but i don't love it. although she didn't win, i congratulate her on the nomination.

our girl taraji looked beautiful in a cavalli gown. no win but congrats, nonetheless.

heidi klum never disappoints me. she always brings her A game.

love that john legend chose brown for the red carpet. brown, when done right, is always a good look on men. he's accompanied by girlfriend, christine, who also looks beautiful.

i'm unfamiliar with leslie mann but absolutely love her dress.

unfamiliar with melissa george but nice dress.

malandrino fall '09.
